My Favorite Highway

6/21/2009 Arriving at the Grog Shop, I had only planned on photographing the Dangerous Summer and Ace Enders as part of the BBQ Across America Tour.  As soon as My Favorite Highway came out on stage, the crowd…including myself…was blown away by their big sound and compelling stage movements…needless to say, the camera came right out.

Fusing piano-rock with power-pop rhythms, My Favorite Highway played a captivating and uplifting set that had everyone in the venue swaying back and forth.  Lead singer David Cook was all over the front of the stage twirling his mic stand, climbing on top of his piano, and standing on stop of the monitors…for an opener, they went above and beyond what most are capable of!

Along with fellow bandmates Will Cook, Pat Jenkins, and Bobby Morgenthaler, David Cook and My Favorite Highway were only big surprise of the night.  Signed to Virgin Records and coming from Fairfax, Virginia, look for more from this band in the coming year on tour.

Opening for acts like Person L and Ace Enders is no easy task, but these guys stepped right up to the plate and blew the roof off!  If you’re wondering what type of sound you can expect out of My Favorite Highway, check out a clip of  ”Getaway Car”.
